Marrying up the conflicting requirements of excellent performance at very high frequencies and very low frequencies, low power, small size, light weight and rugged were the goals behind the design of a high performance active probe. Designed to measure signals with as high fidelity as possible, active probes are used by professional design engineers to measure signals with the lowest loading on the circuit in question to enable the most difficult circuit problems to be found.
We have designed a generic active probe for use with oscilloscopes and spectrum analysers from any manufacturer. The design drew on the extensive experience Zenetec have with precision low noise high frequency circuit design which included time domain and frequency domain simulation of a design which progressed into prototyping of a unit, testing and finally customer acceptance.
